Recap: 5th ALFA Capacity-Building Seminar in Belgium

On February 18, 2025, the ALFA project’s Belgian Hub, led by White Research, hosted the fifth capacity-building seminar at Koeweidehof in Merchtem, bringing together key stakeholders from the biogas and livestock farming sectors.

With 25 participants, including farmers, researchers, and industry experts, the seminar featured insightful presentations from Inagro, Biogas-E, Biolectric, and the European Biogas Association (EBA). Discussions focused on biogas adoption, policy challenges, and market trends in Belgium and Flanders.

Key Highlights:

Expert Presentations: Showcased sustainable biogas solutions, farm-based biogas production, and insights from ALFA’s research.
Farm Visit & Technology Demonstration: Attendees toured Koeweidehof’s biogas plant and explored small-scale biogas technology with Biolectric experts.
Policy & Market Discussions: Covered regulatory gaps, financial support needs, and strategies for boosting small-scale biogas adoption.

Next Steps:

🔹 Strong farmer interest in biogas adoption, with a need for financial and regulatory support.
🔹 ALFA’s second round of service provision will soon launch, offering tailored business and technical support.
